Our Story

More than a nursery — we're your neighbors.

Smith's Nursery has been a part of the Meridianville community for over two decades. What started as a small family operation grew into the go-to destination for anyone who wants a better yard, a greener garden, or a landscape that actually looks good.

We don't believe in pushy sales or overwhelming choices. You'll find us here every weekday, ready to help you pick the right plant for the right spot — whether that's a shade tree for your back yard or a batch of perennials for your flower bed.

What We Grow

Something for every corner of your yard

From the foundation to the fence line, we stock the plants that make Alabama landscapes thrive.

Mature deciduous shade trees with full green canopies

Shade & Ornamental Trees

Maples, oaks, dogwoods, and more — grown right here for our climate. Big trees for big shade, small trees for tighter spaces.

Dense evergreen shrubs and hedges in varying shades of green

Shrubs & Hedges

Azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, boxwoods — the backbone of any Alabama landscape. We carry both evergreen and deciduous options.

Colorful flowering perennials and annuals in full bloom

Flowers & Perennials

Seasonal color that comes back year after year — or all season long. We rotate our selection so there's always something new in bloom.

Bags of premium topsoil, mulch, and garden amendments stacked in a nursery

Soil, Mulch & Amendments

The foundation your plants deserve — topsoil, compost, mulch, and soil conditioners to help everything grow stronger from the ground up.

Garden tools including hoes, rakes, and planters arranged on a wooden surface

Tools & Supplies

Hand tools, pots, planters, fertilizers, and everything in between. If it helps your garden grow, we probably have it.

Potted herbs and small kitchen garden plants on a patio table

Container & Seasonal Picks

Ready-to-go container gardens, seasonal pansies and petunias, and holiday plants — perfect for patios, porches, and front steps.

Why Smith's

We treat your yard like it's our own.

There are plenty of places to buy plants. Here's why folks in the Meridianville area keep coming back.

Plants That Are Actually Healthy

We don't overstock or under-stock. Our plants are grown with care and rotated regularly so you never see a weak specimen on our shelves.

Real People, Real Advice

No kiosks, no scripts. Talk to someone who knows the difference between a crepe myrtle and a crape myrtle — and will tell you which one actually works in your yard.

Local Knowledge, Local Plants

We know this soil, this climate, and this area. Every plant we carry is suited to the conditions right here in northern Alabama.
